Viva has continued to expand Armenia’s first and, so far, only 5G+ network, extending next-generation connectivity to the south of the country. The company said the service is now available in Goris, Kapan, Kajaran and Sisian, as well as in Jermuk, Vayk and Yeghegnadzor.
With Syunik and Vayots Dzor added to the rollout, 5G+ coverage now reaches about 80% of Armenia’s inhabited areas, according to the company. Viva said the launch in the southern cities is significant not only geographically, but also for economic activity, tourism, industry and transport.
To review the expansion on site, Viva General Director Armen Avetisian visited Goris and inspected base stations where the final stage of the 5G+ deployment was under way. A speed test recorded download speeds of 522 Mbps and upload speeds of 91.24 Mbps.
Avetisian said the company is continuing to invest in the network so users can work, study, grow their businesses and stay in touch with relatives more comfortably. He said trust should be built through consistently high-quality connectivity rather than statements, and invited residents to try the service for themselves in their own cities.
According to Viva, the 5G+ network offers higher data speeds and creates a platform for AI-based solutions, large-scale IoT systems and advanced cloud services. The technology also supports virtual and augmented reality, digital twins, remote monitoring and industrial automation. Viva noted that in July it received an Ookla Speedtest award as the operator of Armenia’s fastest mobile network in the first half of 2026.
The company also recalled that in July 2026 it became the first operator in Armenia to launch a 5G+ network, making the service available in Yerevan and in cities across Shirak, Lori, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Kotayk and Aragatsotn. Further expansion is continuing at a rapid pace, the company said, with additional cities expected to be added.
