Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has received the €25,000 cash component of the Hessian Peace Prize and is required to transfer it to the state under existing procedures, the government said.
Armenia’s Law on Public Service states that gifts received in connection with the performance of official duties must be handed over to the state. The government said the award falls under that requirement.
Officials also recalled that Pashinyan had previously received the $500,000 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity. Under a government decision, that money was placed on deposit by the Prime Minister’s Office.
The same mechanism will be used for the €25,000 received with the Hessian Peace Prize. According to the government, the funds will also be deposited.
Officials said the relevant draft decision is expected to be approved at the government’s October 15 meeting.
