The Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Ruben Rubinyan announced that after being elected as the speaker of the parliament, he will resign as the special representative for the normalization of relations with Turkey. He stated this on July 3 during a conversation with journalists in the Armenian parliament, clarifying whether his election as a candidate for the speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia sends a signal to the Turkish side.
According to Rubinyan, his candidacy for the position of speaker of the Armenian parliament means that he will not continue negotiations with Turkey. "Since I have been elected as a candidate for the speaker of the Armenian parliament, it is obvious that I will not continue to be Armenia's representative in negotiations with Turkey," he noted.
