Armenia remains committed to continuing mutually beneficial cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said while joining a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Minsk by video link, according to PAN.am.
Pashinyan said Armenia consistently promotes an agenda of peace, trade and transport connectivity in the region. He described the Crossroads of Peace initiative as a framework for creating new opportunities through the development of transport, energy and digital links.
According to the prime minister, one of the key components of that initiative is TRIPP — Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity. He said the project would create a direct railway connection between Armenia and Azerbaijan, help integrate Armenia into the international rail network and open the way for a rail link between the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea.
He said the development would mark an important shift in transport connectivity for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Iran. Pashinyan also told colleagues in a restricted-format session about several issues related to the unblocking of regional transport infrastructure as peace is established between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The prime minister stressed the need to continue dialogue on removing existing barriers to the export and transit of Armenian goods in line with EAEU law. He added that the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor is the basis of the EAEU single market, while food security and predictable agricultural supplies are essential for deeper economic cooperation.
