Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the Armenia-United Kingdom Business Forum 2026, held in Yerevan for the first time. In his remarks, he said the event was a logical follow-up to the memorandum on establishing a strategic partnership between Armenia and the United Kingdom signed in May this year.
Pashinyan said forums of this kind are meant to turn political agreements into practical results. He argued that business leaders often spot opportunities and prospects faster than officials do, and said he hoped the discussions would lead to concrete deals.
On regional developments, the prime minister said Armenia and the wider region are going through a period of transformation linked to the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the developments flowing from it. He said the government is working on a daily basis to move the TRIPP project into implementation, describing it as a cornerstone for changing the economic environment not only of Armenia but of the entire region.
According to Pashinyan, investment interest around Armenia is already showing signs of stronger activity, and TRIPP could generate new projects and reinforce the country’s investment pull. He also said that, alongside progress on the project, developments are expected on opening the Armenia-Turkey border as well as rail links between Armenia and Azerbaijan and between Armenia and Turkey.
The prime minister also referred to a railway connection between the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea, the North-South road project, and east-west road links, saying these align with the government’s Crossroads of Peace initiative. He added that possible oil and gas pipelines and electricity transmission lines are also being discussed.
Pashinyan said these processes bring Armenia and the United Kingdom closer in transport terms and create room for new economic opportunities. He also noted that Armenia’s average economic growth over the past five years reached 7.9%, exceeding the originally planned 7%.
