Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, will visit Armenia and Azerbaijan on July 1-2, where she will discuss the development of a transport corridor between the two countries. This was announced by the Commission's official representative, Paola Pinyon.
"Ursula von der Leyen will visit the South Caucasus to express European support. She will travel to Azerbaijan to meet with the country's president, and then to Armenia to meet with the prime minister," said the official.
The President of the European Commission will discuss the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and EU investments in transport infrastructure, aiming for both countries to become a 'corridor from Central Asia to Europe.' This will be von der Leyen's second visit to Armenia in the last two months; her previous visit was in May for the European Political Community summit.
