OpenAI Plans to Delay IPO Until at Least 2027

OpenAI has revised its IPO plans

YEREVAN, June 26. /ARKA/. OpenAI plans to delay its initial public offering (IPO) until at least 2027, according to RBC citing The New York Times.

Previously, the ChatGPT developer was considering going public in the third or fourth quarter of 2026.

CEO Sam Altman instructed consultants to prepare for the offering with a target valuation of $1 trillion compared to the last private valuation of $730 billion.

However, as NYT reports, OpenAI's leadership has revised its plans amid instability in the stock market and weak performance of SpaceX shares following its IPO. Company consultants warned that under such conditions, the offering may not generate the expected interest from retail investors.
