YEREVAN, June 26. /ARKA/. The urban development concept for the Kond district in Yerevan was discussed at a meeting chaired by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, according to the press service of the RA government.
The head of the Urban Development Committee, Egiazary Vardanyan, noted that the proposed model is based on a combination of preserving the historical environment of the area, economic development, and cultural activation.
The planned works will focus on preserving monuments and historical heritage, improving engineering and transport infrastructure, increasing the investment attractiveness of the area, and developing tourism.
It was emphasized at the meeting that urban regulations are necessary for the reconstruction of Kond, including changes in the functional designation of territories, establishing architectural requirements for facades, determining the number of floors and construction parameters, as well as state investments.
In particular, the discussion included the preservation and restoration of monuments, modernization of the street network, engineering infrastructure, and street lighting, as well as organizing entrances to the district.
Participants in the meeting also discussed the application of comprehensive approaches to the restoration and management of the area.
Pashinyan emphasized that the successful implementation of the concept requires a clear action plan that takes into account urban planning, social, and economic factors.
In November 2023, it was reported that the reconstruction project for Kond, one of the most unique districts of Yerevan, had entered the practical phase.
In February 2024, it was announced at a working meeting in the Yerevan mayor's office that the district would be completely alienated for the implementation of the new urban development program.
Kond is distinguished by unique buildings that represent cultural and historical value.
Earlier, there were also reports about plans to conduct a complete inventory of the buildings in the area and to regulate property issues regarding houses and land plots.
