Jim Cramer picks Akamai among AI infrastructure stocks

The CNBC commentator says Cloudflare, Akamai and Fastly are benefiting from AI-driven traffic growth, but sees only one attractive buy right now.

CNBC host Jim Cramer says the rapid rise of AI agents is driving a sharp increase in web traffic, opening new opportunities for companies that keep the internet running smoothly. He focused on Cloudflare, Akamai Technologies and Fastly as key beneficiaries of that shift.

According to Cramer, all three companies stand to gain because they operate server networks that help websites load faster and perform more reliably. The article notes that Fastly shares are up 159% year to date, while Cloudflare has climbed 78% and Akamai 22%. Over the same period, the S&P 500 has advanced about 12%.

He was broadly positive on Cloudflare, recalling that CEO Matthew Prince said in June that traffic from AI agents had already surpassed human traffic on the company’s network. Still, with the stock trading at roughly 279 times this year’s expected earnings, Cramer said investors should wait for a pullback before buying.

On Akamai, he highlighted the company’s recent push to build a network of smaller data centers that can process AI workloads closer to users, reducing latency. Last week, Anthropic made an $11.6 billion commitment to Akamai for added computing capacity over the next seven years, a move Cramer described as a strong endorsement of the strategy.

Cramer argued that Akamai is the only clear buy among the three right now, noting that the stock trades at less than 16 times expected earnings for this year. Fastly, despite repositioning toward an edge cloud platform, still looks too expensive at roughly 50 times expected earnings and remains volatile, he said, making it a name to watch rather than buy immediately.
