IDBank signs memorandum with the Matenadaran

As part of the bank’s 35th anniversary program, a new biodiversity park will be created in Yerevan.

IDBank has signed a memorandum of understanding and an agreement with the Matenadaran as part of events marking the bank’s 35th anniversary. The joint initiative will create a new biodiversity park of about 1.2 hectares in the center of Yerevan, on land adjacent to the Matenadaran.

The project is the first joint initiative between the two institutions. The concept was developed by the Armenian Tree Project Foundation (ATP), which will also implement it. Under the plan, the park will serve as an organic extension of the Matenadaran’s exhibitions, with unique plant species mentioned in Armenian manuscripts and miniatures to be planted there.

Before the signing ceremony, guests toured the Matenadaran. The launch of the partnership was also marked by a symbolic event: IDBank’s name was added to the Matenadaran’s Arch of Honor, which lists the institution’s benefactors, and the bank’s Chairman of the Management Board, Mher Abrahamyan, received the “Benefactor of Matenadaran” medal.

Abrahamyan said the bank is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and is carrying out several major projects as part of the jubilee program. He said environmental protection has long been one of the key pillars of IDBank’s social responsibility, adding that building a safer, greener and cleaner future requires combined efforts from the business, cultural, environmental and public sectors.

IDBank says a green and sustainable Armenia is one of the cornerstones of its strategy. In that context, the bank has already backed projects including the renovation of Moskovyan Park and the “Symphonic Forest” initiative, while the biodiversity park near the Matenadaran will become its latest environmental project.
