On October 7, Armenian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Vahan Kostanyan met representatives of a business delegation from the Armenia-Belgium Chamber of Commerce.
According to PAN, Kostanyan outlined current trends in Armenia’s economic development and the steps being taken to diversify the country’s export markets.
The talks also covered Armenia’s investment climate and new economic opportunities emerging from expanded regional connectivity amid the peace established in the region.
Participants discussed ways to further develop Armenian-Belgian trade and economic cooperation, as well as prospects for strengthening contacts between the business communities of the two countries.
As additional context, the report notes that on June 2 Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Rosselkhoznadzor, imposed temporary restrictions on imports from Armenia of cherries, sweet cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, nectarines and grapes. Earlier, restrictions had also been introduced on several vegetable crops exported from Armenia.
Russia has also banned imports of Armenian Jermuk mineral water, flowers, fish products and certain alcoholic beverages.
