The Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Vaagn Ovakimyan, assured that the difference of 27.8 thousand between the number of voters who signed and those who voted, as stated by the opposition forces who filed the lawsuit, does not correspond to reality. He made this statement while speaking at the Constitutional Court on June 27.
According to him, this refers to data from 340 polling stations, of which 86 are the stations where military personnel voted. He noted that at 30 polling stations, "there was simply an incorrect count."
"The fact is that an incorrect count was made at these stations. The difference was about 8 thousand votes," said the CEC chairman.
He also noted that there were technical errors, from which no one is insured, as well as invalid ballots, which accounted for 1.15%. "If you subtract those 8 thousand, then the data from the stations where military personnel voted will show that there is no difference of 27,814 votes," said Ovakimyan, adding that the plaintiffs relied on preliminary, not final data from the CEC.
He promised that in his final speech at the Constitutional Court he would present accurate calculations. According to him, the actual difference is about 100 votes.
In turn, the Deputy Head of the CEC, Nune Ovanisyan, stated that violations at individual polling stations cannot serve as grounds for annulling the voting results.
