This was stated by Mayor Tigran Avinyan during a working meeting:
"The bus takes one lane, and only public transport can move along that line, and people complain, raising the question of why the situation worsens when they drive their cars. This is a very natural question, but it also has a natural answer: our streets have no capacity to widen.
However, the streets of Yerevan, especially in the small center, have no room for expansion, and if we are seeing an increase in passenger vehicles month after month, the first and only thing we must do is allocate separate lanes for public transport so that routes become faster and more convenient. There are no other solutions possible in Yerevan; the only solution is to improve the operation of public transport and reduce the congestion of passenger vehicles in heavily loaded areas," Avinyan stated.
