EU approves 22nd package of sanctions against Russia

The package blacklists around 1,600 companies and individuals linked to the military-industrial complex.

The European Union has approved its 22nd package of sanctions against Russia, according to EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.

Kallas said EU foreign ministers had added around 1,600 companies and individuals linked to Russia’s military-industrial complex to the blacklist.

She said the new measures are intended to make weapons production in Russia significantly harder, slower and more expensive. According to Kallas, those weapons are being used to kill Ukrainians.

The sanctions will take effect after the full list is published in the EU Official Journal.
