The European Union has allocated 100 million euros to provide humanitarian aid to displaced persons in Lebanon and the Middle East, as stated by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the social media platform 'X'.
She welcomed the agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon, describing it as an important step towards easing tensions.
The European official emphasized that peace in the Middle East is impossible as long as Lebanon is engulfed in conflict.
Von der Leyen thanked the United States for its mediating efforts, stating, 'The next important steps are the disarmament of non-state groups, as well as the preservation of Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The European Union is ready to support this path towards establishing sustainable peace and stability in the region, including continuing the necessary humanitarian aid supplies, for which 100 million euros have already been mobilized to assist displaced persons.'
