According to data published by the Central Bank of Armenia, as of May 2026, the ratio of foreign currency deposits and loans of residents to the money supply (D1) was 27.8%, which is a decrease of 2.5 percentage points compared to the comparable figure for 2025.
The ratio of foreign currency deposits and loans of residents to total deposits and loans of residents (D2) also decreased by 3.2 percentage points, totaling 32.3%:
The share of foreign currency demand deposits and loans of resident individuals among total demand deposits and loans of resident individuals (D3) was 39%, down 2.9 percentage points compared to March 2025.
The share of foreign currency time deposits and loans of resident individuals among total time deposits and loans (D4) was 38.6%, which is 4.2 percentage points lower than the comparable period in 2025.
Regarding the ratio of foreign currency loans to total loans (D5), it increased by 1.3 percentage points, reaching 32.1%.
Armenian commercial banks and credit organizations continue to attract more funds from abroad and, therefore, aim to allocate them in the currency in which they were raised to avoid foreign exchange risks.
