COP17 is an important opportunity for Armenia not only to organize a high-level international event but also to showcase the technological and innovative potential of the country to international partners. This was stated by Gevorg Mantashyan, Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, during a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Environment of Armenia, Aram Meymaryan.
He noted that the event will also create new opportunities for cooperation and attracting investments in the fields of applied science and high technologies. The meeting was held in the framework of the preparations for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will take place in Armenia from October 19 to 30, 2026.
The Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, as a member of the inter-agency working group for the preparation of COP17, is involved in organizing the forum, coordinating and ensuring a worthy presentation of technological innovations, applied scientific solutions, and the potential for industry development within the event.
During the discussion, the parties addressed organizational and substantive issues of the conference preparation, exchanged information on priority areas, accompanying events, the technological concept of the national pavilion, and the main directions of interaction and coordinated actions.
Particular attention was paid to ensuring the uninterrupted operation of communication and telecommunications systems for delegations during the conference days, the readiness of digital infrastructure, and the implementation of necessary technological solutions.
As a result of the meeting, the interlocutors specified further steps within the framework of joint work, determined the deadlines for their implementation, and agreed to continue coordinated cooperation for the effective preparation and substantive filling of the conference.
