Dollarization level of demand deposits rises while decreasing in loans and term deposits

In Armenia, the dollarization level is rising while decreasing in loans and term deposits

In Armenia, from May 2026, the dollarization level of demand deposits has increased from 36.8% to 42.3% in July, while decreasing in loans and term deposits, maintaining the dominance of the dram component in these portfolios.

This is evidenced by data from the Central Bank of Armenia.

As of August 2026, the volume of loans provided by banks to residents exceeded 8.8 trillion drams ($24.1 billion). In particular, dram loans exceeded 5.99 trillion drams ($16.4 billion), while foreign currency loans amounted to 2.8 trillion drams ($7.7 billion), with annual growth slowing to 26%.

The volume of deposits reached 8.3 trillion drams ($22.6 billion) by August 2026, of which 6.6 trillion drams ($17.9 billion) are resident funds.
