YEREVAN, July 21. /ARKA/. The net inflow of non-commercial remittances to Armenia in May 2026 increased by 30.2% compared to the same period last year, according to the World Bank's Armenia Monthly Economic Update – July 2026.
The World Bank noted that the high double-digit growth was recorded against a low base in 2025. “About 61% of the total net inflow came from transfers from Russia, which increased by 42.2% year-on-year,” the document states.
According to the World Bank, the inflow of remittances contributed to the strengthening of the Armenian dram, increased liquidity in the banking sector, and supported domestic demand.
According to the Central Bank of Armenia, the net inflow of cross-border remittances for individuals in Armenia received from abroad through the RA banking system amounted to $1.08 billion in January-May 2026, compared to $511.7 million in January-May 2025. In May alone, the net inflow of remittances was $356.8 million, compared to $238.3 million in May last year.
Among the leaders in remittances to Armenia are Russia with $1.87 billion and the USA with $334.1 million.
