The American aerospace company Boeing Co. continues to overcome supply chain issues, including difficulties in supplying interior components and engines for the 787 Dreamliner aircraft, aiming to increase the production of its most profitable models, reports Bloomberg.
“Supply chains are still somewhat unstable,” said Stephanie Pop, head of Boeing's commercial aviation division, during a press briefing ahead of the Farnborough International Airshow. She noted that engines produced by GE Aerospace “will be one of the key factors determining production rates.”
Boeing aims to increase the monthly production of its 737 family aircraft from the current approximately 42 units to 63 over the next few years. According to Bloomberg, the increase in production volumes is crucial for reducing the company's debt, improving its financial condition, and competing against Airbus's dominance in the high-margin segment of narrow-body aircraft. This class of aircraft constitutes a significant portion of air transport for short and medium distances worldwide.
Pop stated that the company is currently focused on stabilizing production at a level of 47 aircraft per month, after which it plans to increase production to 52 aircraft before considering the next phase of expansion.
She also revealed that Boeing plans to begin its first deliveries of the long-awaited intercontinental twin-engine 777X aircraft to customers in 2027. The market entry of this long-awaited model is a significant milestone in the company's development.
In the first half of 2026, Boeing delivered 314 commercial aircraft, compared to 280 in the same period of 2025. In June alone, the company delivered 64 aircraft to customers, up from 60 last year.
As of the end of June, Boeing's total order portfolio stood at 6,202 aircraft.
