Ameriabank Secures $50 Million from OPEC Fund to Boost SME Financing in Armenia

The funds will be used for the development of SMEs

YEREVAN, June 26. /ARKA/. Ameriabank and the OPEC Fund for International Development (the OPEC Fund) have signed a loan agreement worth $50 million. The signing ceremony took place in Vienna during the OPEC Fund’s ‘Development Forum 2026’, which also marked the 50th anniversary of OPEC’s establishment, the bank's press service reported.

The funds raised will be directed towards financing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Armenia, enabling them to access necessary resources for business development, job creation, and expansion.

The agreement was signed by Ameriabank’s head of financial institutions Ara Sargsyan and OPEC Fund President Dr. Abdulhamid Al Khalifa.

This cooperation with the OPEC Fund is one of the most significant achievements of our long-term partnership and the largest financing obtained from this structure to date. Supporting small and medium-sized businesses is one of the key areas of Ameriabank's strategy, and we highly value the opportunities that arise from this new collaboration. The funds raised under this program will allow us to expand financing opportunities for SMEs, contributing to the establishment, development, and increased competitiveness of a greater number of enterprises,” noted Ara Sargsyan.

The OPEC Fund and Ameriabank have been collaborating since 2015, facilitating the development of Armenia's economy in the areas of SME financing and trade financing. To date, agreements have been signed totaling $125 million.
