Acba bank has released a video about its 30-year journey, outlining how it developed into one of the leaders of Armenia’s banking system. The bank says its story began in the 1990s with two rented offices at 13A Vardanants, one computer, one printer and a small team with ambitious plans but limited resources.
The bank notes that at the time, nearly every sector of the economy in newly independent Armenia was facing serious challenges. Against that backdrop, the European Union’s TACIS program provided 2 million ecu to help form the charter capital of the newly established bank.
At the initial stage, the team worked with rural residents and built a banking model based on mutual support. In later years, Acba expanded beyond agriculture and began financing other sectors of the economy, contributing to Armenia’s development.
According to the bank, trust has remained central to its growth — among employees, customers, partners and shareholders. It also says cooperation with the French banking group Crédit Agricole and leading European asset manager Amundi played an important role in its development.
Today, Acba bank employs about 1,900 people, its acba digital platform has more than 750,000 users, and around 90% of customer transactions are carried out through the bank’s digital channels. At the same time, the bank says it continues to invest in the development of Armenia’s communities, education, culture and environment.
