By granting customs privileges to Armenia, Brussels estimates that Armenian entrepreneurs will avoid paying 5.4 million euros in duties over two years. As a result of this move, Armenian producers and exporters will be able to export several hundred types of goods to the European market duty-free:
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced in Yerevan that this involves Autonomous Trade Measures (ATM). "This way, we can redirect products that are largely exported to the Russian market to the European Union's single market for 450 million people," she stated:
The project envisions the possibility of free trade for 324 product groups. Under the preferential conditions, it will be possible to export annually 6500 tons of cucumbers, 5000 tons of grapes, 750 tons of pears, 7000 tons of apricots, 2000 tons of cherries, 3500 tons of peaches, 1500 tons of plums, and 2500 tons of strawberries:
Additionally, there will be no quantitative restrictions on the export of another 316 groups of goods duty-free. The list is extensive: meat products, dairy products, vegetables, grains, clothing, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, etc.
