Today, an international roundtable titled "Critical Infrastructures of the Greater Caucasus in the Context of Geoeconomic Competition" was held at the Institute of China and Modern Asia (IKSA) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The discussion was moderated by leading researcher Vage Davtyan and head of the Caucasian Studies sector Evgenia Goryushina.
The event gathered leading Caucasus scholars, political scientists, and economists to discuss how changes in transport, energy, and digital networks are reshaping the geopolitical map of the region.
Analysts focused on the rivalry of four global projects: China's "One Belt, One Road", the European Global Gateway, the "North-South" corridor, and the TRACECA transport network.
Experts emphasized that today, key infrastructure—from nuclear power plants to underwater internet cables—has become a direct lever of geopolitical influence.
