The Georgian government plans to expand all three international airports operating in the country and to start construction of a new large airport in Vaziani by the end of 2027. This was reported by the Georgian service of the Sputnik agency, citing the words of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
“Against the backdrop of increasing tourist flows, Georgia is embarking on a large-scale modernization of its aviation infrastructure. In Tbilisi, we have started the expansion of the existing airport, which will handle up to 10 million passengers a year. At the same time, by the end of next year, construction will begin on a new airport in Vaziani, which will serve 20 million passengers. This is important for our country in the context of the growing flow of tourists,” said Garibashvili.
