Volkswagen's Profit After Tax in the First Half of the Year Decreased by 35.7%

Volkswagen Group's financial report shows a decline in profit

The profit attributable to shareholders of the Volkswagen Group decreased by 35.7% in the first half of 2026 compared to the previous year, amounting to €2.574 billion. This is stated in the manufacturer's financial report.

During the reporting period, operating profit fell by 11.6%, reaching €5.931 billion. The diluted earnings per share decreased from €7.97 to €5.11. Revenues slightly declined by 0.16%, totaling €158.102 billion.

In the first half of the year, the company's vehicle sales decreased by 8.4% compared to the same period last year, reaching 3.997 million units, while production was reduced by 7.7% to 4.171 million vehicles.

“Worldwide, we supplied more vehicles than last year, except for the Chinese market, where a 20% decline was recorded,” commented Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume in the report.

In the second quarter, the profit attributable to shareholders of Volkswagen decreased by 41% to €1.284 billion. Operating profit fell by 9.5% to €3.469 billion. The diluted earnings per share decreased from €4.34 to €2.56. Revenues increased by 2% to €82.444 billion.

The company expects that revenues will decline by up to 3% by the end of 2026.
