Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a package of laws tightening migrant regulations in Russia. According to the new regulations, foreign citizens will be required to ensure that they and their family members meet at least the minimum living standards set for the region:
This amount cannot exceed the average monthly salary in that region. If a migrant works in several subjects of Russia simultaneously, the calculation will be based on the region where the requirement is highest:
The law also introduces new mechanisms for monitoring migrant incomes. Tax authorities will provide the Ministry of Internal Affairs with information about migrants' incomes:
