Visa Launches Stablecoin Platform for Banks

The Visa Stablecoin Platform (VSP) is designed for banks and fintech companies

The payment company Visa has launched the Visa Stablecoin Platform (VSP), designed for banks and fintech companies to conduct operations with stablecoins.

The platform supports the issuance, redemption, custody, and transfer of digital assets through a unified interface. The product also includes a Wallet-as-a-Service feature, where Visa itself provides and maintains the infrastructure for digital wallets, and customers connect to it via API. Access is secured by Passkey identification, transfers are allowed only to whitelisted addresses, and sensitive transactions require second-user approval.

Jack Forrestal, Visa's Director of Product and Strategy, stated that this solution will eliminate the main barrier to the adoption of stablecoins by large organizations — operational complexities.

Initially, VSP operates with the Open USD stablecoin, issued by the Open Standard consortium, of which Visa is a member. No fees are charged for the issuance and redemption of this token, and the income from reserve assets is passed on to partners. Additionally, the platform also supports stablecoins USDC (Circle) and USDG (Paxos).

Visa is consistently developing the infrastructure for stablecoins. In November 2025, the company introduced the Visa Direct pilot project, allowing users in the U.S. to send USDC to recipients' digital wallets. A month later, Visa launched stablecoin settlements for banks in the U.S. using Circle's stablecoins.

In March 2026, Visa and the Bridge stablecoin infrastructure platform owned by Stripe announced an expansion of their stablecoin card program. This solution, introduced in 2025, is already operational in over 100 countries worldwide.

Moreover, Visa is actively involved in the development of AI-based payment solutions. Company representatives stated that the implementation of new technologies and openness to partnerships help Visa maintain its leading position in the transformation of global trade.

It is worth noting that in July, Visa, in collaboration with Animoca Brands, launched a pilot version of AI-based services for the Minds trading platform.
