Six Saudi Oil Tankers Reroute Around Africa to Dodge Houthi Threat

Saudi Arabia alters its oil export strategy once again

Six empty Saudi oil tankers have rerouted around Africa to avoid Houthi threats. These tankers turned away from Bab el-Mandeb and are headed towards Gibraltar or South African ports such as Durban or Algoa Bay.

This route, which adds at least two weeks to the journey, was changed due to Houthi threats and actual attacks on tankers. Saudi Arabia is altering its oil export strategy once again to avoid new threats.

More than eight empty supertankers are reportedly en route to Egypt's Sidi Kerir port to pick up Saudi crude.
