YEREVAN, July 17. /ARKA/. While Armenia's economy continues to show results above expectations, recent political events in relations with Russia continue to raise concerns, forcing the government to intervene to support exporters.
This is stated in the World Bank's report "Armenia Monthly Economic Update – July 2026".
"Since the end of April, Russia has gradually expanded the ban on the export of Armenian agricultural and food products. If the ban continues and expands without the adoption of mitigating measures, the negative impact may go beyond trade and affect economic growth, prices, and social conditions," the study notes.
On the restrictions of Armenian products in Russia
Russia has restricted the import of all quarantine products of Armenian origin and shipments, as well as their transit through the territory of the Russian Federation to other EAEU countries. The restrictions include, in particular, the mineral water "Jermuk", alcoholic beverages, vegetables, fruits, greens, as well as fish and fish products.
The Rosselkhoznadzor explained the decision by the systematic detection of quarantine objects in plant products and flowers from Armenia.
In light of the restrictions, Armenia has expanded support for exporters in alternative markets, compensating part of the transportation costs and customs duties for supplies to the EU, the UK, and Canada.
On July 2, the government extended the export support program until July 2026, including fresh and dried fruits and vegetables, certain food products and beverages, as well as trout and sturgeon in the list of subsidized products.
