Witnesses in Vardan Ghukasyan's case unaware of the proceedings

Today, the anti-corruption court changed the measure of restraint for the mayor of Gyumri, Vardan Ghukasyan, placing him under house arrest for three months with a bail of 15 million drams. His lawyer, Aramais Hayrapetyan, stated in a conversation with journalists that administrative supervision was sufficient. Now, Vardan Ghukasyan is under strict limitations, deprived of public speech, communication with journalists, visits, receiving guests, phone calls, and correspondence.
"One form of deprivation of freedom simply changed to another form," said the defender.
Commenting on the court process and the questioning of 16 witnesses, he noted that some witnesses were completely unaware of what case was being discussed and why they had come to court.
According to him, the questioning of witness Hmayak Gareginian today proved that the process should have been conducted in accordance with the law.
