According to political scientist Suren Zolyan, Nikol Pashinyan links the issue of enclaves-exclaves with the sovereign territories of Armenia to justify that if we do not return the occupied territories, we cannot demand them back. Zolyan points out that Pashinyan essentially admits he will give away Tigranashen and three Tavush villages, which he did not openly state before.
"He is creating confusion; the territories of Jermuk and Artsvashen are completely different. He puts them on the same level to justify his handover. Moreover, he even indicated how it should develop, meaning that if he touches on Artsvashen, Jermuk, and the Black Lake, that will be at the end; first, he will reach Tigranashen through Ijevan, and then they will discuss what to do. This means that the issue has already been thoroughly discussed," Zolyan says.
He emphasizes that handing over three enclaves in Tavush could have catastrophic consequences. "Three villages, which are right in the center of the region, will be very problematic," he adds.
"If we do not give these enclaves, there will be war, and we will lose our sovereign territories," Zolyan concludes.
