Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that cooperation with Russia is beneficial for Armenia.
“Yes, he [Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan — ed.] now has different views regarding possible formats for his country’s future. But ultimately, the decision will probably still have to be made by the Armenian people. That is not our business; it is the business of the Armenian people. We do not want to be more Armenian than the Armenians. But we know for certain that cooperation with us brings great benefits to Armenians,” Peskov told Channel One, RIA Novosti reports.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek on September 1.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has said Armenia must decide by December this year whether to hold a nationwide referendum on joining the EU or remaining in the Eurasian Economic Union.
