As a result of negotiations between the Ministry of High Technology of Armenia and the American company Starlink, the Armenian government has received 56 devices donated by Starlink to prepare for potential emergencies.
These devices will enable reliable and high-speed internet connectivity for effective response during disasters and other emergencies, report the Ministries of High Technology and Internal Affairs, which collaborated on the initiative.
The equipment is already in Armenia and is set to be allocated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the needs of the Rescue Service. They will enhance the diversity of communication options in emergencies in Armenia, particularly in rescue operations, natural disasters, crisis situations, and in cases where traditional communication infrastructure is limited, overloaded, or disrupted.
Within the framework of cooperation between Starlink and the Ministry of High Technology of Armenia, 110 Starlink devices are already providing internet connectivity for thousands of students in remote schools in Armenia.
SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet has been available in Armenia since the end of March last year.
