Starlink has donated 56 more devices to Armenia to strengthen the stability of internet connectivity in emergencies. This was announced by the Minister of High-Tech Industry, Mikitar Hayrapetyan, on his Facebook page:
“As a result of negotiations between the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia and the American company Starlink, the Armenian government has received 56 devices donated by Starlink to prepare for possible future emergencies. These devices will enable reliable and high-speed internet connectivity for effective response during disasters and other emergencies.
This initiative has been implemented in cooperation with the Ministries of High-Tech Industry and Internal Affairs of Armenia.
The devices are already in Armenia and are planned to be allocated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the needs of the Rescue Service. They will enhance the diversity of communication capabilities in emergencies in Armenia, particularly for rescue operations, natural disasters, crisis situations, and in cases where traditional communication infrastructures are limited, overloaded, or disrupted.
Starlink is the world’s leading satellite constellation operating in low Earth orbit, providing reliable and high-speed broadband internet to millions of users worldwide. It plays a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted communication for emergency response services, especially in remote areas and crisis conditions.
This donation continues the effective cooperation between Starlink and the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, under which 110 Starlink devices are already providing internet connectivity for thousands of students in remote schools in Armenia.
The Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia highly appreciates the collaboration with Starlink and this important contribution to strengthening Armenia's preparedness and response capabilities for emergencies,” the minister wrote.
