Gasoline production in Russia has fallen and now covers about 65% of seasonal demand, according to Reuters, citing two sources and its own calculations:
The decline in production is linked to the shutdown of the largest gasoline producers in the Omsk and Nizhny Novgorod regions, as well as the Saratov refinery, due to drone strikes from Ukraine.
According to agency sources, the country is short of 40-45 thousand tons of gasoline per day, which is about 35% of summer demand. In June, the deficit was 25%.
Authorities are trying to fill the fuel shortage through an export ban and increased imports.
Agency sources expect that by mid-July the situation will improve due to the resumption of operations at oil refineries and an increase in imports, provided that the plants do not suffer new strikes.
