Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced that the ban on gasoline exports from Russia will be extended until the end of 2026.
“We have also decided to extend the ban on gasoline exports for both producers and non-producers. This means it will be in effect until the end of the year,” he said according to Interfax.
At the same time, Novak noted that the ban on diesel fuel exports will be lifted “in line with market recovery.”
In April, a complete ban on gasoline exports was imposed in Russia, which was reportedly aimed at preventing a deficit amid high demand. In June, the Russian government also prohibited the export of aviation kerosene from the country.
The bans were implemented against the backdrop of Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries and conflict in the Middle East, which led to rising oil prices and a global aviation fuel deficit.
