Rosselkhoznadzor has appealed to the Iranian Plant Protection Organization to halt the certification of flowers exported to Russia. The Russian side claims that the volume of goods imported from Iran this year has "significantly exceeded the figures for the same period last year."
"In the phytosanitary certificates, Iran is indicated as the place of origin of the product, but the external characteristics and packaging of the products are identical to those previously imported from Armenia," the Russian federal service stated, adding that it had previously informed Iran that it had banned the import of Armenian flowers since May 22.
"Due to the lack of response from the Iranian side, the service has requested to suspend the certification of local floral products until bilateral negotiations are held and this issue is clarified," Rosselkhoznadzor stated.
The federal service has also temporarily restricted the import of stone fruits from five Turkish exporters to Russia, citing that "harmful elements considered quarantine for EAEU member states have been regularly found in the batches." It is not specified which exporters the ban will apply to and for how long.
