Robots are taking over the football world

Boston Dynamics showcased the capabilities of its robots during the FIFA World Cup. The humanoid robot Atlas has learned to kick a football, while the quadruped Spot robots have been deployed for stadium security. Atlas can perform complex football movements, including the Ghost Rabona trick, thanks to specialized training. According to the company's experts, motion capture and artificial intelligence technologies were used for the robot's training. Spot robots are employed as security assistants, patrolling stadium areas for potential threats and suspicious objects. They are equipped with cameras, thermal imaging systems, and lidar sensors. Boston Dynamics noted that while robots cannot yet replace humans, they are already capable of performing various practical tasks in security, industry, and research.
