France’s National Gambling Authority (ANJ) ordered internet providers to block the platform last week, stating it exposed users to potential losses and offered markets that could be manipulated:
Polymarket claims the decision is disproportionate as it affects users who visit the site solely for information rather than for trading:
“We were surprised at the ANJ decision to block access to our entire website because their measure targets people going to Polymarket purely for information,” the company stated in a press release:
Polymarket also noted that its contracts should be classified as blockchain-based financial instruments traded directly between users:
