Out of 6,214 officials who submitted declarations to the Anti-Corruption Commission, 143 declared cryptocurrency in 2025. Their assets at the beginning of the year amounted to over 3 million dollars, but by the end of the year, they decreased by 25% to 2.3 million dollars. How did it happen that some officials lost hundreds of thousands of dollars, while others saw their assets increase?
Who are the richest in cryptocurrency
The richest official in cryptocurrency is Aram Djivanyan, the chairman of the Defense Industry Committee. At the beginning of the year, his cryptocurrencies were valued at 711,510 dollars, but by the end of the year, his wealth had decreased by 8.35%.
The main part of his assets consists of bitcoins and ethers. During the year, the number of bitcoins increased by 0.2, while the number of ethers remained the same. However, due to the decline in the price of ether, his 15,000-dollar asset decreased by 1,640 dollars by the end of the year.
By the end of the year, several cryptocurrencies had “disappeared” from Djivanyan's account, the largest of which was 9,821 Fasttoken (FTN), which was worth about 35,000 dollars at the beginning of the year. However, it is unclear from the declaration whether the official sold them or exchanged them for other assets.
The second official with the most declared cryptocurrency is Tigran Avinyan, the mayor of Yerevan. He declared three types of cryptocurrency, the total value of which at the beginning of the year was 445,584 dollars, and by the end of the year, it increased by 11% to 494,096 dollars.
Aram Djivanyan and Tigran Avinyan were the first two officials to declare the most cryptocurrencies at both the beginning and the end of 2025. These two officials owned 38% of the declared cryptocurrencies at the beginning of the year and 50% at the end of the year.
Why did officials' FTN decrease by 98.3%
At the beginning of 2025, the most common cryptocurrency among officials was Fasttoken. 32 officials declared this currency with a total value of 776,680 dollars. However, by the end of the year, the number of FTN holders had decreased to 18, and their total value had decreased by 98.3% to just 12,934 dollars.
