Yerevan: Mediamax: Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin that the restrictions on the export of Armenian-origin goods to the Russian market contradict the legal framework of Armenia-Russia and the regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The RA government reports that Pashinyan asked Putin to "take measures to resolve these issues."
Regarding the issue of holding a referendum in Armenia on joining the European Union, mentioned in the joint statement of the leaders of the four EAEU member countries dated May 29 this year, Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized that holding a referendum is practically possible only after Armenia officially applies to the European Union for membership and makes the topic substantive.
At the same time, Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized the readiness of the Government of Armenia to resolve the mentioned issues through open, partnership, and friendly dialogue," the statement from the Prime Minister's press service said.
Mediamax notes that the Kremlin's website states the following about the phone conversation between Pashinyan and Putin:
"Vladimir Putin confirmed the commitment to the joint statement of the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, adopted at the EAEU summit in Astana on May 29, 2026, regarding the actions aimed at Armenia's accession to the European Union. In particular, the necessity to conduct a nationwide referendum in Armenia on the issue of joining the EU or remaining in the EAEU as soon as possible was emphasized."
