Pashinyan Expresses Discontent with the Quality of Fish Products Produced in Armenia

The Prime Minister addressed issues related to the quality of fish products

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today addressed the quality of fish products produced in Armenia during a government meeting, noting that he has not eaten fish for a long time:

“How much do they comply with quality standards? We should not generalize. There are producers who do, and there are those who do not,” Pashinyan stated, continuing: “For example, I will share my personal experience, I have not used farmed fish for a long time, very long. Because it is obvious to me that there is a problem there. First, it happens that unnatural, some fats... are flowing from it, something strange and illogical.”

“These are questions we need to address. And yes, we need to address food quality issues within Armenia,” the Prime Minister said.

Today, the government is discussing the issue of providing support to fish producers, specifically a 20% subsidy on the average price of feed purchased in the first half of 2026.

According to the government, “by providing state support, it will be possible to ensure the continuity of production activities of fish farming enterprises and maintain the export potential and competitiveness of the sector.”
