The Armenian delegation is actively participating in the work of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2026 under the auspices of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
During the first week of the forum, Armenia's permanent representative to the UN, Ambassador Paruyr Hovhannisyan, chaired discussions on clean energy, sustainable communities, and small island developing states (SIDS).
The ambassador also participated as a speaker in the discussion on "Accelerating the implementation of SDGs for middle-income countries," emphasizing that country-led development and policies based on national priorities should form the basis of the future Strategic Action Program for middle-income countries.
At the HLPF event titled "Accelerating Action for Mountain Regions: Implementation of the 2023-2027 Action Plan," he highlighted the importance of strengthening the interlinkages between the Rio Conventions.
The ambassador reaffirmed Armenia's commitment as the upcoming presiding country of the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17) to promote the global mountain agenda through practical and integrated approaches in the areas of biodiversity conservation, climate action, and sustainable land management.
