The Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, announced that the launch of the new biometric system is scheduled for autumn 2026. According to the minister, citizens will be able to use new biometric passports and other identification documents that fully comply with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
At the first stage, 14 service centers will be opened, and by March next year, their number will reach 23. In these centers, citizens will not only receive new biometric documents but also benefit from a completely new and modern service culture.
After the launch of the new system, all identification documents issued by the Republic of Armenia will be biometric, and documents of the old format will no longer be produced.
