Armenia Nikol Pashinyan was appointed Prime Minister on August 2, 2026. President Vahagn Khachaturyan signed the decree appointing Nikol Pashinyan as Prime Minister. The text of the decree was published on the official website of the President of Armenia.
Earlier, the President accepted the resignation of the government, which Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan presented at the start of the first session of the newly elected parliament in accordance with constitutional requirements.
The 'Civil Contract' party, as the political force that formed the parliamentary majority in the National Assembly, nominated its leader Nikol Pashinyan for the position of Prime Minister.
'By the proposal of the faction of 'Civil Contract' in the National Assembly, I was appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia by the decree of the President,' Nikol Pashinyan wrote on Facebook, also publishing a video.
The President signed the decree while hosting the acting Prime Minister at his residence.
'It is a great honor for me to sign the decree appointing you as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia under Article 149 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia,' the President stated.
Nikol Pashinyan expressed gratitude and stated that in 2018, when he took office as Prime Minister, it would have been difficult to predict that they would go through such a path.
'I hope that the 9th convocation of the National Assembly will eventually become a platform for political ideas, thoughts, visions, and not for clashes of personalities,' the Prime Minister said.
'The stability, strengthening, and resilience of the state depend not only on the political majority that assumes power but also on the opposition,' Vahagn Khachaturyan emphasized.
