Economy Minister Meets World Bank Head in Armenia

Tourism development programs were discussed

The Minister of Economy of Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan, met with the head of the World Bank (WB) office in Armenia, Fabrizio Zarccone. During the meeting, the parties discussed the progress of the tourism development and regional infrastructure improvement program (TRIP) with a budget of 120 million euros.

Papoyan and Zarccone emphasized the importance of the initiative in developing tourism and modernizing regional infrastructure, agreeing to continue close cooperation to ensure the effective and timely implementation of planned activities.

The TRIP program aims to develop tourism clusters in Goris, Areni, Jermuk, Yeghegis, Dvin, Gyumri, and Dilijan. The project is designed to stimulate the development of wine, health, adventure, cultural, educational, and ecological tourism, enhancing Armenia's tourist attractiveness and the competitiveness of its regions.

It is noteworthy that according to the Tourism Committee, 1.041 million tourists visited Armenia in the first half of 2026, exceeding last year's figure by 14.8%.
