Cybercrime: Computer Theft of 6.7 Million Drams

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed

The preliminary investigation of a criminal case regarding a large-scale computer theft has been completed at the Cybercrime and High-Tech Crime Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

During the investigation, evidence was gathered indicating that K.M., having learned about a technical flaw in the company's electronic application that allows transfers between accounts without checking the account balance, with direct intent to steal someone else's property, illegally entered data into the computer system regarding transfers of various amounts to his account in the company from March 30 to April 8, 2024.

As a result of this technical flaw, a total of 6 million 714 thousand drams was generated in the company's electronic wallet and his account, which was then stolen through transfers to other bank cards.

The criminal case against K.M. has been sent to the supervising prosecutor with an accusatory conclusion.

Notice: The accused in the crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code by a court decision that has entered into legal force.
