Iran Proposes to Increase Gas Exports to Armenia

Iran offers a new trade model for gas exports

The Islamic Republic of Iran has proposed to the Republic of Armenia a new trade model aimed at expanding the volumes of Iranian natural gas exports to Armenia.

During a meeting with Armenia's Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan, Iran's Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad stated that it is necessary to comprehensively assess the existing infrastructure and the feasibility of using Armenia as a regional transit corridor to expand gas trade out of the Armenian market.

It was also announced at the meeting that the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran will create a joint specialized working group in the energy sector, focusing on gas trade.

The Iranian oil minister reminded that the partnership in the energy sector between the two countries is based on an agreement for the exchange of gas for electricity.
