During Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaydi's visit to Washington, a series of energy agreements were signed with a total value of approximately $200 billion, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), citing Oil Minister Bassem Mohammed Khudair:
Iraq has signed seven key agreements, including with HKN Energy, Chevron, and Halliburton. There are already 22 international energy companies operating in the country, including BP. Meanwhile, authorities are negotiating with OPEC to increase oil production quotas, and the country's total production capacity has already exceeded 4.8 million barrels per day:
The government plans to achieve natural gas self-sufficiency by 2030. The country is already meeting domestic demand for diesel fuel and kerosene, producing around 30 million liters of gasoline daily:
At the same time, Chevron is participating in technical studies for the restoration of the Kirkuk–Baniyas oil pipeline. At the West Qurna-2 field, where LUKOIL previously held a 75% stake, project management has been transferred to Basra Oil, and negotiations are ongoing with Chevron to join the project. The recoverable reserves at the field are estimated at about 14 billion barrels, with current production potentially reaching 460,000 barrels per day:
